Canada is the second largest country in the world by land area, with a population of 37.3 million it is one of the least densely populated countries in the world and as a result of which the country is able to preserve a large span of land as sanctuaries, devoid of any human touch, were nature thrive, creating masterpieces across the country inspiring people across the world.
Canada experienced a surge in the number of international tourists this year with the number increasing to a record of 21.1 million. These record numbers are triggered by a favorable exchange rate and cheap flight ticket availability, the cool, calm and welcoming behavior of Canadians acted as the catalyst for this move. In a new development, a lot of travel agencies have branched out to provide Canada tour packages targeting the US and the Asian markets. Canada is now emerging into one of the world’s most prominent holiday and romantic getaway destination. Pure, untouched nature always draws in a large number of tourists and Canada has an abundance of it, creating a win-win situation for all.
The Rocky Mountains of Canada
The Rocky Mountains Canada is a vast land which is spread across 20,000 square kilometers/ 7,722 square miles, the Canadian Rocky Mountain Park was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1984, since then it has attracted tourists in large numbers, but those numbers are not that significant when compared to other famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The Rocky Mountains of Canada comprises of Banff National Park, Jasper National Park, Kootenay National Park, Waterton Lakes National Park, Yoho National Park. The highest point in the Rocky Mountain range is called Mt. Robson, located entirely within Mount Robson Provincial Park in British Columbia. Millions of years of glacial activities and erosion have created a picturesque landscape, something that is so unique that it can never be remotely replicated by any standards.
The Rockies are home to a large number of diverse flora and fauna, some of the most common animals found are deer, moose, coyotes, wolves, black bears, grizzly bears, mountain goats and so on. Fur trade followed by mining was the main economic activity in the Rockies but now all these activities have been replaced by tourism.
Hiking is the most common activity done by tourists to enjoy the beautiful scenery that the park offers, a 350-mile trail crisscrosses the park that links the alpine lakes, lodgepole pine forests and the rocky tundra topping at 14,259 feet, Longs Peak is a well-known hikers paradise. There is an opportunity to take a guided tour through the park or go on a camping trip. A once in a lifetime opportunity that should never be missed and I think it is important that nature lovers and enthusiasts place The Rockies as the number destination in their travel bucket list.
Niagara Falls Ontario
Located in a strait between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, which is shared by the United States and Canada respectively, the Falls has become a popular vacation spot for families and honeymooners alike. You can view the Falls year-round from observation points on both the American and Canadian sides of the Niagara River. Niagara Falls was formed as a result of the melting of large slabs of Ice, 12,000 years ago at the end of the ice age, this large quantity of water then thundered down into the Niagara River creating this beautiful waterfall. It was the French explorer Louis Hennepin who discovered this mesmerizing wonder in the year 1678, this area later became a French stronghold, to take control of the access to the Great Lakes, the French built huge forts of which the only one survived. The 18th-century fortress offers programs like live demonstrations and reenactments, with daily shows.
Niagara will go in the history books as the first place to commercially produce alternative energy and sell them to houses and businesses commercially. Nikola Tesla in the year 1896 developed the alternative current system, that developed transmission capabilities enabling developing and selling energy for the first time to the people and businesses of Niagara City. The discovery center located above the Schoellkopf Power Station was the first place that was involved in the commercial generation and distribution of power. Today the both the American and the Canadian side combined together produce about 2.5 million kilowatts of electricity, keeping alive the long tradition of generating alternative energy.
Niagara Falls is one of the few famous sites that have this unique blend of dynamism and vibrancy, depending upon the seasons of the year. During the winter the Falls roars thunderously like an alfa-male lion, spreading positive energy and confidence to its visitors and during winters the same river becomes an art form in itself. The top layer of the waterfall freezes creating a chandelier like structure below which the water ozs its way down creating a soothing effect that relaxes the mind and body of its visitors.
